• Diploma thesis about the formation, stability and structure of bucky onions, investigated in an ultra-high resolution electron microscope. Max-Planck-Institut für Metallforschung, Stuttgart, 1994/95.
• Graduate student of the Bachert group of multi-nuclear in-vivo NMR spectroscopy at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, 1995-1998. Thesis about diffusion-weighted 1H and 31P NMR spectroscopy on a clinical MR scanner.
• Member of the Graduiertenkolleg "Tumor diagnostics and therapy through the use of three-dimensional radiological and laser-based techniques", DKFZ / University of Heidelberg, 1996-1998.
• Fachanerkennung für Medizinische Physik durch die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Medizinische Physik (DGMP).
